![]() Since almost all of my streaming remotely is either Direct Play or set to default (2mb/720p), I found that these settings worked best for me. The only issue is if you remotely stream a lot with transcoding, since HVEC->h.264 is pretty messy. These settings turned the average MCU flick from 25gb to about 8gb, for comparison, which is a huge saving of space for very little lost quality. Sometimes there would be banding in some movies, and on the strict side-by-side comparisons I could sometimes pick out which one was which (most notably on scenes with huge amounts of noisy detail like starfields or snow or the like) but I can live with that as it was rare and only in a few scenes. This produces files that are, on average, half to one third the size of the original with no significant visual degradation that I could see on my large, expensive TV or on side-by-side comparisons with my dual monitor setup.
